General Terms

CMP (Consent Management Platform)
A system that manages user consent for data processing and privacy compliance.

Consent Banner
The user interface element that appears to collect user consent preferences.

First-Party Cookies
Cookies set directly by your website's domain.

Third-Party Cookies
Cookies set by external services integrated into your website.

Local Storage A web storage mechanism that allows websites to save data persistently in the user’s browser without expiration. Data stored in localStorage remains available across browser sessions until explicitly deleted by the user or script. Often used by CMPs to remember consent choices or user preferences.

Session Storage A browser-based storage mechanism similar to localStorage but temporary. Data stored in sessionStorage is available only for the duration of the page session and is cleared automatically when the browser tab is closed. Useful for maintaining short-term consent states or session-level settings.

Privacy & Compliance

nFADP / nLPD (Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection)
Switzerland's revised data protection law, effective September 2023, governing personal data processing and privacy rights.

GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)
European Union regulation governing data protection and privacy. Optionally supported by biskoui for EU operations.

Data Controller
The entity that determines the purposes and means of personal data processing.

Data Processor
The entity that processes personal data on behalf of the data controller.

Legitimate Interest
A legal basis for processing personal data under GDPR and nFADP.

Data Subject
An individual whose personal data is being processed.

Right to Withdraw Consent
User's right to revoke previously given consent at any time under both nFADP and GDPR.

Data Sovereignty
Legal concept ensuring data remains under the jurisdiction of specific national laws - biskoui ensures Swiss data sovereignty.

Personal Data
Any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person under Swiss and EU law.

Technical Terms

Consent String
Encoded representation of user consent preferences.

Service Blocking
Preventing third-party services from loading until consent is given.

Consent Registry
Record of all consent events and user preferences.

Data Retention
How long consent and user data is stored.

Cross-Domain Consent
Sharing consent preferences across multiple domains.

Site ID
Unique identifier for your website in the biskoui system, included in your script snippet.

Service Category
Grouping of similar services (e.g., Analytics, Marketing, Functional, Essential).

Swiss Data Centers
Geographic location where biskoui stores all consent logs and user data, ensuring Swiss data sovereignty.

Consent Registry
biskoui's tamper-proof audit trail system storing all consent events for compliance reporting.

Service Integration
Process of configuring third-party services (YouTube, Google Analytics, etc.) within biskoui for automatic consent-based blocking/enabling.

Google Consent Mode v2
Google's framework for handling consent signals. biskoui supports both Basic (consent-only signals) and Advanced (cookieless measurement) modes.

Consent Storage
How and where user preferences are saved (localStorage, cookies, cross-domain sync).

Cross-Subdomain Consent
Feature allowing consent decisions to be shared across multiple subdomains under the same parent domain.

Dynamic Content Blocking Automatically blocks third-party embeds such as Google Maps, YouTube, or Vimeo until the user grants the required consent, then loads them dynamically without reloading the page.
